Charity Tournament Report
Sunday 7th September 2014, Charity Tournament
Fourteen teams of netballers competed in this annual event at Birchwood High School on a chilly and sometimes wet autumnal morning! The tournament was run in two sections with the top two teams in the A division playing off against the top two B teams in the semis. Division A was won by Crosskeys 1 with Bishop's Stortford 2 and Issi fighting it out for second place, Bishop's Stortford 2 were the eventual winners and went into the semis to play the winners of B division. Swan, Felsted 2, Richmonds and Mystix also competed in Division A. |
In Division B Bishop's Stortford 1 romped to victory with Crosskeys 2, Bishop's Stortford 3 and Felsted fighting for second position. Crosskeys 2 succeeded by 1 point. Pink Ladies, Felsted 1 and Ongar ladies also
competed in the B division.
The semis saw Crosskeys 1 and 2 meet with Crosskeys 1 the victories 11-7. Bishop's Stortford 1 and 2 took part in the second semi final with Stortford 2 winning 8-4. The final was a rematch of an earlier A division game with Crosskeys 1 playing Bishops Stortford 2, again Crosskeys 1 won to claim the trophy for this year.
All teams played some great netball and a huge 'thank-you' must also go to the umpires who gave up their Sunday morning for the Tournament. The event raised £280 in memory of Brenda Mitchell which will be donated to her chosen charity.
Next event is the coaching day on Sunday 14th commencing at 10 a.m and finishing around 3 and then the winter league commences on the 21st September.
